Dangerous Drugs Intercepted At FCP

A joint operation between the Royal Bahamas Police Force Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Bahamas Customs resulted in the confiscation of dangerous drugs at the Freeport Container Port over the weekend.

Acting on intelligence, a container at the Container Port was searched and 81 kilos of suspected cocaine was discovered. Officer In Charge of the Northern Bahamas, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Shanta Knowles spoke with reporters at a press event where the drugs were on display about the major bust.

She said, “what you see before us today is a result of good communication and execution by our team. We know that this shipment came from South America and it is destined for somewhere in the US.”

Knowles also thanked the officers involved in the discovery. “We just want to say thanks to our customs officers, DEA agents here on Grand Bahama and of course my drug enforcement officers who are consistent in once they get information or intelligence they work the information and then they cultivate to bring success,” she said.

The suspected cocaine has a street value of approximately $1.2 million.
