The Bahamas Hotel Catering and Allied Workers Union signed a new industrial agreement with Harbourside Atlantis on Monday after three years of negotiations.

General Manager of Harbourside, Judith Thompson was at the signing event and said, “it took a long time for us to get to this point so I think that value of the contract in itself can be measure in the satisfaction of the membership and the associates.”

Hotel union president, Darren Woods said, “one of the things that is significant in all of the contract that we would have signed recently is the fact that there is a provision in there for the agreement, once they’re registered, to be incorporated into the employees individual contracts of employment which is huge and significant.”

The new agreement includes an 11% pay raise over five years for tip employees and 8% for non-tip employees.
