Sysco Bahamas recently hosted its 2024 Spring Food Expo showcasing its wholesale food and cleaning products at the Baha Mar Resort.

Sysco Bahamas Learning and Development Manager, Amad Rashad Thompson spoke with ZNS News on the sidelines of the event about the company and its global mandate. He said, “Sysco Bahamas is the largest food distributor in The Bahamas and on this planet. So we literally take our purpose very seriously, which is connecting the world to share food and care for one another. We shy away from retail. We want customers who have organizations, businesses, food kitchens, hotels, schools, wherever you need food Sysco can provide it. And so we’re really a dynamic wholesale provider that allows customers to get accounts with us and be able to establish their business and their unique footprint in and with Sysco Bahamas.”

According to Sysco Corporate Executive Chef, Jonathan Keegan, this year’s expo was more elaborate than previous years and took a lot of planning. “This one was more elaborate because we have the chef competition. We also had the UB students do a demonstration for the tasting for the clientele. The vendors were more food heavy this event so we had a lot more cooking going on. product being sampled and tested in the kitchen and delivered to the floor it was a lot more vendors than there was the last time.”

The expo was a closed event for Sysco customers. Sysco Customer Service Manager, Kasey Collie explained how those interested can become a customer. He said, “with the Sysco shop you first need an account, which is very easy to get. You go on to our website at http://www.syscobahamas.com fill out the application, the application comes to us, we then in turn process it and then send you your login credentials. Once you get in, you’re in.”

According to Amad Rashad Thompson there is more to come for Sysco customers this September.
