Officials and athletes of the Bahamas CARIFTA Track and Field Team worshipped at the Living Waters Kingdom Ministries on Palm Sunday.

Head Coach, Claudell McNabb spoke with ZNS News about the importance of the service. He said, “it’s always important to give thanks to God. I always say as long as you are up and vertical its a good day and this is very pertinent for us to be here and for the athletes, coaches, the whole staff to be in one frame of mind and to remember that it wouldn’t be possible if God wasn’t in the midst.”

President of the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA), Drameco Archer was also in attendance at the service. He said the church service is one of the most important parts of the team’s preparation. “We come to church and give ourselves to the house of the Lord and the people that reside within as a demonstration of our commitment to the sport but also our commitment to God and we remind our athletes that without him nothing is possible and so church for us is significant. It is the opportunity when we can bring the entire team in one place.”

Archer also expressed appreciation for the support the team has received. “This could not be possible without the support of the Government of The Bahamas who has been here with us year over year over year and they’ve added strength and value to our program as they have done with other sporting disciplines and so we’re thankful. We’re equally thankful to have corporate partners who have come forward. Albany is the partner, the title partner for this year’s CARIFTA team. We’re grateful to Albany for providing some level of support and we’re thankful for the parents who come out and support their kids everyday.”

The 2024 CARIFTA Track and Field Championships are scheduled to take place in Grenada over the Easter holiday weekend.
