Man accused of attempted murder of police officers

A man was charged in court yesterday with attempted murder in the shooting of two police officers over the weekend.

David Cornish, 30, of Hero Street, Eastwood Estates, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt charged with the attempted murder of Sgt. 933 Kyle Capron and Corporal 2722 Capron on February 12.

Cornish, who was represented by Ian Cargill, was not required to enter a plea to the charge and was remanded to prison.

He makes his next court appearance on April 20.

According to police, the Caprons were investigating a domestic dispute off Johnson Terrace when they were shot by a man.

The officers returned fire, wounding the suspect in the leg, police said.

Cargill told the magistrate that Cornish was shot and needed his medication to accompany him to the prison.
