Guyanese Woman Found Fatally Stabbed In Jersey City


CaribWorldNews, NEWARK, NJ, Sat. Sept. 18. 2010: New Jersey police are on the lookout for the killer of a Guyanese migrant and mother of two, who was found stabbed to death in home by daughter returning from school Thursday.

Shrimatie Parasram, 45, of Prospect Street at Oakland Avenue in Jersey City Heights, NJ, was found face down between the kitchen and dining room on the home`s first floor by her 16-year-old daughter as she returned home from afterschool activities, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said.

An autopsy performed Friday morning at the state Regional Medical Examiner`s Office in Newark determined Parasram died of multiple stab wounds that penetrated her heart and lungs. The medical examiner also found she suffered blunt force trauma to her face.

Parasram was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:03 p.m. the day before he was supposed to have flown to Guyana for a visit.

Her husband, Hardeo Parasram, came to the United States 23 years ago and works detailing cars. The couple also have a 20-year-old daughter. 

Investigators are still trying to determine the motive of the killing. There were no signs of forced entry and the murder weapon has not been found.
